Ghost In The Sucking Stomach Wound

Since I’ve been posting some of the ghost panels I’ve done for other artists, it’s only fair to show some of the ghost help I’ve gotten in my own stories. Here’s the big reveal panel from “LOVE DOESN’T LAST FOREVER”, in which we see that Bruno is suffering from some alien sexually transmitted disease. Who better to pull that off than Steve Bissette?

Steve and I ghosted lots of stuff for each other over the years, but this has got to be my favorite bit by him. I did the Bruno character and Steve collaged the rest. It should be mentioned that my editor, Archie Goodwin, had warned me not to show Bruno’s penis in this shot, but Bissette couldn’t resist slapping that orchid in there. Archie, to his everlasting credit, laughed out loud when he saw it and let it pass for publication.

Alan Moore fans (and who isn’t?) be aware that he authored this little seen 8 page story which is available only in the SHINY BEASTS trade paperback from King Hell.

Life Keeps Imitating Art

One of the central satirical premises of my ARMY@LOVE series is that the military, as a recruiting tool, would sanction wild orgies for the troops. Too wacky to be real, right? Then what’s going on with this real world study by UCSF Medical Center? Thanks to Kevin Church.

Today’s Post Is Brought To You By Miracle Man, Spawn and Morpheus

One of the fun things about doing commissions is the challenging nature of what people ask me to draw. Here’s a recent one which the customer asked for three well known characters in a situation that reflected how their muddled ownership problems had made their way through the courts. Pen and ink on illustration board. Spawn © Todd McFarlane, Morpheus © DC Comics. I’m not sure who currently claims to hold the © for Miracle Man.

Yes, I’m still taking commissions. If you are interested in getting a choice piece, while the getting is good, please contact me.

Ghost Of Star Wars Past

A few months ago, I told the story of how I was drafted into assisting Al Williamson on his classic comic book version of THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. Here’s another page in which I penciled the Imperial Walker, with gorgeous layouts, figures and inks by Al. Script by Archie Goodwin. This scan is from the Dark Horse “CLASSIC STAR WARS” set. ©Lucasfilm.

The Face On The Cutting Room Floor

This page was originally done for “UNDERSTANDING RARE BIT FIENDS”, which laid out some tips for remembering and relating to your dreams, along with a healthy introduction to my own batty theories, which ran in RARE BIT FIENDS #12. Dave Sim read the issue before it went to press and suggested I change this culminating scene in which I end up blathering in a rubber room.

“UNDERSTANDING RARE BIT FIENDS ” is included in the first collection, RABID EYE.

Alan Moore – Rick Veitch Original SUPREME Art

Start the New Year with a beautiful and historic page of original art on your wall! I’m offering Page 12 from SUPREME: THE RETURN #3 for sale. It features SUPREME, DIANA DANE, SUPREMAX, and a future female version of FIGHTING AMERICAN and SPEEDGIRL all drawn in my best Jack Kirby style and hilariously written by Alan Moore. The lettering is by Todd Klein.

It’s done in brush, pen and india ink on 11 x 17″ Image illustration board and is in perfect condition with no editorial blue line or any other defects. Todd’s hand lettering is right on the board too (which is a big plus in my book). I’d like to get $300 for it. If you’re interested, please contact me.
