And The Winner Is…
Another fun commission; this one based on a little detail from the faux-newspaper section in the back of GREYSHIRT: INDIGO SUNSET. In issue #5 of the mini-series, there was a report from the “annual semi-secret SCIENCE HERO AWARDS” in which many of the ABC regulars strutted their stuff, hoping to win a coveted “ALAN AWARD”.
Padraig O Mealoid (whose name has 5 of those little thingamajobs that I don’t know how to get my keyboard to reproduce) asked for an illustration of the ALAN statuette along with the inscription indicating he’d won. Gotta admire that.
Yes, I’m still taking commissions. You can view some recent samples right here.
And if you’d like one of your own, just let me know.

Here’s a page of original art I’m offering up for sale from THE TOMORROW SYNDICATE, which was BOOK 6 of the 1963 series from Image published back in 1993. It’s got the whole TOMORROW SYNDICATE in a classic Kirbyesque crowd scene as well as a guest appearance by THE FURY! This page is in perfect condition, with script by Affable Alan Moore, pencils by Roarin’ Rick Veitch and inks and letters by Dashing Dave Gibbons.
I’d like to get $250 for it. If you want to make it yours, just shoot me an email.
UPDATE: We have a buyer.

When Steve Bissette was pencilling SAGA OF SWAMP THING he was always having problems keeping up with the monthly deadlines. Since I lived close by, I’d often lend him a hand, ghosting backgrounds, panels and whole pages beginning with THE ANATOMY LESSON in #22 and continuing off and on, right through #50. In #26, when Alan introduced the Justice League of America to the series, Steve (who enjoyed focusing on the horror and screaming Woodrue faces) tapped me to pencil the superhero sequences. Here’s Page 3 of “ROOTS”, script by Alan Moore, pencils by me, inks John Totleben, color Tatjana Wood and lettering by John Costanza. ©DC Comics

Deer Ridge Designs just dropped off the latest run of our classic DOCTOR BLASPHEMY T-SHIRTS with the infamous @#*! graphic down the front. Diamond Distributors will no longer be carrying these shirts (in fact if you were one of the 118 people who ordered one in the last PREVIEWS relist you won’t be getting it as those orders didn’t make the Diamond minimums and were canceled).
The good news is you can now buy them direct from me and I currently have ALL sizes in stock. That means those of you who were waiting for a previously unavailable SMALL or XXL size can finally get it. I’ll have a proper web page with a Click To Buy button soon, but for now all you have to do is email me and we can work out the details.
The shirts are black 100% cotton GILDAN heavyweights with a double strike white silkscreen design. Pricing is $19.95 + shipping for SMALL, MEDIUM, LARGE and XL.
$22.95 + shipping for XXL.
Quantities are limited.

I’ve just received a big box of comps from my good friends at COMMA 22 in Bologna, Italy. They have published these lovely Italian editions of my King Hell Books.
If you live in Italy these should be easy to find. I’m not sure how everyone else can purchase them; maybe through one of the European versions of Amazon.com?
English language editions are, as always, available from my store (and come signed).

Back in 1983, brother Tom and I worked up a few ideas for comics projects that never quite panned out. This is a character sketch I did for a concept called ICON which morphed into IKON in Tom’s initial script. One of the problems with this one, according to my notes in the margins, was that then-current coloring technology couldn’t duplicate the color scheme. Pen, ink and colored pencil.
