We Interupt This Dream For An Important Marvelman Announcement

If you’ve been following the news out of San Diego Comic-Con, you’re probably up to speed on Marvel’s announcement that they have purchased the rights to Marvelman from Mick Anglo. In a case of perfect timing if there was one, the latest issue of Roy Thomas’ ALTER EGO has a terrific interview with Mick, delving into the history of the cartoonist and his most famous creation. I don’t have a link for a place to buy it on-line, but it shouldn’t be too hard to find.

Yes, that’s a Marvelman cover by me; originally done as a fan commission. And yes, I’m still taking commissions. If interested just get in touch.

Check out some other commissions here.

I am shocked by this news.
what does this mean for the eclipse comics? will marvel be reprinting them?
do you and Alan and everyone else still own the rights to your work, if so will marvel need either permission from you guys for those pages? if they own the character now they could have him team up with the X-men or make a movie or do whatever they want. yikes!

Marvel got in touch with those of us who had worked on the Eclipse stuff ahead of the announcement to let us know they’d bought Marvelman from Mick.

They said they would further be in touch concerning their publishing plans. As of today, that’s all I know.
