There’s More To Retro Than Kirby and Swan

Here’s a faux-70′s page from SUPREME #49. Script by Alan Moore, pencils by me and letters by Todd Klein. But with the addition of lovely Neal Addams style inks from Shawn Van Briesen.

These are all great pages! Wonderful to see it in black and white.
You should put together a RETRO original art exhibition!
At the same time, you show the evolution of the superhero theme and of splash-page composition, your own retro style (because it always remains very “Veitchish”), and all those references to the influential masters, Kirby, Swan, Adams (and there’s even some Steranko, I think).

I absolutely love this one. It’s so like one of those 70′s Marvel ‘cosmic comics’ (it’s a trip) while at the same time, taking the piss.

Wow! I haven’t seen these in years. Very fun to see them again.
