Momma’s Bwah

A long-lost blast from my star-crossed past! This page from MOMMA’S BWAH, written by Bill Kelley and illustrated and lettered by me in 1979. It was an undergroundy Mad-like mash-up of BAZOOKA JOE, ED GEIN and ARCHIE that appeared in 50’s FUNNIES; published by Kitchen Sink in 1980. Editor was Larry Shell.

Wow, that really captures the entire “feeling” of the Ed Gein “situation” and perfectly portrays the grotesqueness of the wearing of the flesh and sinister, demonic hallucinations. “Pud Stinks” lol!!…

Sometimes comics, pictures or art just “get it” and this is definitely one of those times. From the first page to the last…Eddie standing in front of the mirror in the midst of his ghastly squalor…The angry “Mother” face in the mirrors….But that picture of him opening the door dressed in that suit takes the cake, god that would be horrific to see!! “Chonk”. I could write praises all day….Just aswesome.
