Dreamed in 1973.
Do you still have your old comics, Rick, or had you got rid of them by the time of this dream?
In my teens, when I was flush with money, ( for a teenager )I’d stash some of my cash ( not coins )in my comics ( a good hiding place? ), then when I needed some drinking money, I’d pull out comic after comic and shake them down until something fell out. My closest drinking buddy always got a kick out of watching me do this. My comics were worth money to anyone – not just collectors.
Always feel bad for ‘young Rick’ being so down on achieving his dream. I never doubted my path ( well, just for one week, I wondered ). Guess I had my head up my arse. Probably the difference in the quality of cartooning around when you were a kid as compared to when I was growing up in the 80’s – I’d look at Garfield and figure if that guy can make a living at this game, then anyone can.
I thought I’d lost my old comics but when I was doing the 1963 project in the early 90’s, my younger brother surprised me by finding an old trunk in his attic. Inside was the well read Veitch family comics collection!
